  Volunteering with ASA

The success of our program is due to nearly 200 volunteers who generously contribute more than 15,000 hours each year. Volunteers range in age from 7 to 70 and include people of all walks of life.

Lifelong friends, hugs, smiles and tears of joy are just some of the rewards that our family of volunteers receive. We provide all of the necessary training for our volunteers. No experience is necessary. For more information on winter volunteer opportunities for the 2007-2008 season, please click here!

Winter Sports Volunteering

Join ASA and our team of volunteers for our 24th winter season on the snow working with people with disabilities. We will train intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders to teach adaptive snow sports. No experience with ski/snowboard instruction or with disabilities is necessary. The benefits of volunteering are significant, including:

  • Free skiing at Durango Mountain Resort
  • Free ski improvement clinics
  • Pro (discounted) deals on ski equipment
  • Generous discounts at a number of local businesses
  • Improved skills to help people with disabilities enjoy the experience of winter snow sports

Summer Volunteer Application / Intake Forms

Our name begins with the word ADAPTIVE. This is the key to becoming a successful volunteer. Try different approaches to teaching and communicating.

Use all of the resources available to you - staff, other instructors, printed materials, parents/group leaders/teachers, etc.

 -Other Ways to Volunteer-

Volunteers are not only valuable in our summer and winter programs but are also needed to help in numerous other capacities such as special events, office administration, marketing and virtually all other aspects of running a small non profit business.

Harvest Gala Auction-

Thanks to everyone who pitched in to make the 2007 Harvest Gala a huge success! We truly cannot do it without you folks! Because of all your hard work, we had our most successful event to date! Thanks to volunteers, donors, and folks that came out that evening! We can't wait to see you next Septemeber!
